Psalm 45:10-11, 13-15

Listen to me, O royal daughter; take heart to what I say. Forget your people and your homeland far away. For your royal husband delights in your beauty; honor him, for he is your lord. [...] The bride, a princess, waits within her chambers, dressed in a gown woven with gold. In her beautiful robes, she is led to the king, accompanied by her bridesmaids. What a joyful, enthusiastic procession as they enter the king's palace!

Our Anniversary!

It's been one year...

For our first anniversary, we ate breakfast at one of our favorite little places, Champagne Bakery, and then in the afternoon we went to The Flower Fields in Carlsbad. For dinner, we went to Carver's, a Mueller favorite. (I'm sure you want to know all of this.)

The Flower Fields were beautiful!

What was I thinking? White shoes!

Unexplained Delayed Flights : (

My husband, father-in-law, and I are headed off tomorrow to Indianapolis to a friend's wedding. I booked us the perfect flight, we were going to leave early in the morning and arrive mid-afternoon with enough time to take a break at the hotel before heading out to the rehearsal dinner.

Except...except for at dinner I got a 1-800 number on my cellphone, which I didn't answer because it was dinner time. Then the 1-800 number left me a voice mail. So, then I listened. Our wonderful flight got canceled! And we are now rebooked on a flight that doesn't leave until almost 1pm! Which means we won't get there until 10pm--after the rehearsal dinner and hang out time! Oh, so sad.

I was bummed. Still am, but at least we won't have to wake up at 4am and I still don't have to work. That's the silver lining people. My husband lovingly reminded me that God's in control, which I wanted to respond with a "Grr..." But, yes, of course, God's in the small stuff too.

(I'm adjusting...)

Frugal Fridays: Do-It-Yourself Car Repairs

This week for Frugal Friday (even though it's actually Saturday!) our frugal item of the week is car repairs. The brakes on my old 1989 Volvo wagon were well overdue on being fixed, but having gotten married in the last month or so put that on the back burner somewhat. However, last weekend that changed.
Joe happened to mention to a man in our church (who happened to give us tools for a wedding present) that we needed to fix the brakes on our car. The man offered to help Joe fixed the brakes, since he was well experienced in the area. So, Joe took him up on the offer and last weekend Joe spent four hours fixing our own brakes. We ended up saving about $400 dollars doing it ourselves and only spent $120 on new brake "stuff" and one tool. It's something worth considering if you have the time, tools, and know-how. Think about it!

A Week in Pictures...

Random Pictures from our week:

Me, Kaite (a jr. higher), & Lynda (another leader) for Kaite's b-day pic before we went to the Institute for Creation Research on Saturday (more about that later).

Our sloppy joe dinner. I seemed to forget the bun part of the sloppy joe, which was good since I also got tomato sauce instead of tomato past. We ended up mixing it with some rice and it was fine.
My homemade fries!

We got to spend some time Friday with our good friends the Lowther's daughter while mom went to grill some hot dogs. She's reading her favorite book ("Oh, no!") at our house. Her and our nephew have their own shelf in one of our closets with books, bubbles, and toys to play with when they visit.
